What a great week to write you guys and let you know that everything is going well. We are excited to be Serve our Master and our Lord. I really think about him everyday and truely try to imagine myself how he would act with the investigators that I have. I know that he is our Savior and knows our hard aches. This week has been good for many reasons. 1 we have 2 baptisms this week on saturday and they are really awesome sisters. Their names are Sister Estela and Sister Liliana, we have seen their repentance and their desires to be obedient. 2 We have a family that we have taught and literally have taken away many evil spirits from this family. It got to the point that they wanted to seperate and not be together anymore. We took out unwandering spirits from their lives and brought light and truth.
I want to personally congradulate Jordan my cousin for the decision he has taken. I know that his desires will turn to faith which will give him hope to give all he has to the Lord. His faith during his mission with a lot of experience and diligence will turn into perfect knowledge that what he will do is correct. The spirit has confirmed it to me various times in my mission. The best part about the mission is forgetting about oneself and serving others with all our hearts. Jordan keep it up and keep being that light you are for your friends. We will be serving together for one month, in this battle between good and evil. I know that you are an awesome young man and you have a lot of potential to be a great servant of the Lord. I cant wait to hear the stories when we finally see each other, we wont be able to talk for 4 years straight but we will be brothers in the lord. Love you man keep it up.
Today I would like to talk about the spirit and how it can change our way to act. I have truly gotten to love the spirit and the work it does in the plan that God has for us. He is truly that servant that does the work for the master Jesus Christ. There is a scripture that I love that helps me understand how us as missionaries can help others feel that spirit. In Alma 18:34-35 it says
34 Ammon said unto him: I am a man; and man in the beginning was created after the image of God, and I am called by his Holy Spirit to teach these things unto this people, that they may be brought to a knowledge of that which is just and true;
35 And a portion of that Spirit dwelleth in me, which giveth me knowledge, and also power according to my faith and desires which are in God.
This scripture reveals things that can help us. Ammon was teaching the King Lamoni and said these words. He reveals that the spirit acts with two things. One is with our desire and two depending on our faith. I have seen that this is true in the mission. We fist need to have the desire to help others and forget about ourselfs and have the hope that they can change by coming unto Christ. My faith in my mission has increased every time I have a greater desire to serve the Lord.
This spirit which Ammon taught helped the king Lamoni changed his heart and his desires. This will lead to change our desire and nature.
In Alma 19:33
33 And it came to pass that when Ammon arose he also administered unto them, and also did all the servants of Lamoni; and they did all declare unto the people the selfsame thing—that their hearts had been changed; that they had no more desire to do evil.
This is something that leads us to being converted unto the Lord. I have gone through these things in my mission and dont desire to do more evil or be disobedient but do good continually. I know that every person can receive this change but it depends on each one of us to act and use our agency to receive this change. The power is within us and like "Peter said salvation is personal"
Our Father would never send a child here on earth without giving him the sufficient capacity to be obedient and live with him again. He created us with the capacity to be obedient and receive this change if we desire it.
I know that what we do will lead us to true happiness. I know that the Savior lives. He is the perfect example and our true friend. He loves us with all his heart. I know that God the Eternal Father lives and that we are his servents here on earth. God could do his work by himself but he gives us the opportunity to feel the joy he does when one soul returns to live with him again.
