HEy family hows it going? Wow im really excited to be able to write to you guys today. A lot of things have happened since last week. Every week goes by so fast. The more time I have here the faster the days go by. I dont like it haha. I feel like I put all my effort into the work but it goes by so fast. So we are planning to marry a family in october and baptise the wife. Im super happy because the husband is a returned missionary that went less active. We are going to rescue him and his family. We also have been talking to a lot of people. This mission is one of the most blessed missions. We have high standards of completing lessons and contacts with people. THis makes us better masters and better followers of the spirit. Also I got my package so everything is good. Thank you so much.
This week I have a really sad but impressive story to tell. Here we go....This week we were teaching a less active lady that has started going to church and her two daughters. The whole time she has been so busy working and not focused on her family. This caused that her daughters were by themselves too much and do whatsoever they pleased. Her daughters have been acting up a lot and do not listen to her mother.
On Friday we had a lesson with her and this has been like a month that she has been postponing. She also has problems with the father of her children. She is suing him for not helping her raise her children. These last few weeks she has been really pressured by him and by her daughters. On Friday when we went to go teach her. We had the mentality that it was going to be a normal lesson that we are going to share.
We started with a prayer. During the prayer I was prompted to tell her "Hermana you arent planning to kill yourself right?" She started to confess and started to cry and we could feel the depression that she had. We started to talk to her and try to figure out the situation she was in. Then we told her to forget about all the problems she was passing through and to focus on this plan that the Lord had for her.
We made her focus so much on the lesson we were teaching that she started to remember that she is a daughter of God, that God loved her, and that she was of great value to him. In that lesson I don't know how or why but God gave me such a high power of discernment and of the spirit that I could know everything that she was thinking about. I told her the conclusion she was coming to and that it wouldn't be the solution. I could read her expressions so easily and I could feel that the spirit was acting upon me in a different way. God gave me the knowledge that I had the gift of discernment. I felt I had the power of Jesus Christ reading the minds of the people he always taught.
I know that the only way I could have done that is through the power of the Holy ghost that God had given me to help her daughter here on earth. I know that this church is true and that through the Holy Ghost we can do miracles. At the end of the lesson we saw that the light of Christ went back into her and she talked to the bishop yesterday. I love you guys and hope this will help you to know that the spirit is always there. Something that Elder Wadell said is that we should more likely know when the spirit leaves to know what we need to stop doing.
I love you guys and hope you have a good week.
Talk to you soon.
Elder Parra
