Im grateful to have the opportunity to be able to write this letter to you guys. I feel the spirit so deeply right now. I know why they ask the missionaries to write letters. Its to testify of what they have learned and what they know to be true. I hope and pray that the Lord may give the his spirit to understand. Also how you can apply it to you life.
This week I would like to talk about prayer but not just what we always talk about. What actually prayer is! A lot of people dont understand the significance of prayer. First I would like to start of with a question. What is the Purpose of prayer? What do we try to reach when we pray?
From the things that I have learned I have come to many conclusions and I know my answer. Im grateful that the spirit has revealed this secret unto me and hope that you cherish it as well. The reason for prayer is not to ask for anything. The reason that everyone should pray is to know God and his attributes. when we pray we are trying to know God no one else. Its not list of things we ask like if we are at a grocery store. That is incorrect. Prayer will lead us to know the nature of God the almighty and his beloved son through the holy spirit will illuminate our mind and soul. It will get engraved in every fiber of our body. Like Jesus said in the americas. In 3 Nephi 27:27 . Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am.
I love that scripture because it reveals we need to get to know how the Lord was. There are scriptures in Doctrine and covenants that testifies to my words. D&C 67:10 This scripture reveals that the vale will disappear from our eyes and we will see him and know that HE IS. Through prayer we need to look for the will of the Lord and act upon what we receive. We should promise the Lord in our prayers that we will be obedient to his revelations. This doesn't mean after we pray we stay seated and wait for an answer we need to act to receive an answer.
The other scripture that I like is in D&C 76:2-7 He says he will honor those that are in a state of righteousness. It literally says that God will honor you which is crazy to think. If you think about it all the blessings we receive is when the Lord honors us. He also says we will know his will and mysteries of God not just things we dont know. We will discover truths that we have always been doing but never put importance to it.
I invite you study these scriptures in the morning not at night. Pray that the spirit revealeth unto you the nature of God and his beloved son. If we get to know him we will always do the correct thing and look the way he looks. Think about the apostles that live today they have gotten to know so well the Lord and God because of their diligence. Act upon the promptings that you receive after praying and while doing an action.
Most of the times when I am proselyting in the streets at night in Peru which is not a very pretty scene haha I often pray in my heart and while I am walking (doing an action) I get an impression that I should talk to someone. Always think of what the Lord would do not what you would do but what the lord would do. Its hard at first but little by little you get much better at it. \
We are going to start this week off the best we can talking to everyone. I know this church is true. Every time I pray, I can testify that the vale comes off little by little.
